Birthstone for January, garnet aides in unlocking one’s potential and dispelling fears.

Rhodolite belongs to the garnet family, more specifically it is a blend of two different types, the Almandine and the Pyrope.

Rhodolite looks very different from the classic red garnet which comes in combinations of pink, red and purple. Unique in its beauty thanks to a particular hue of violet and a high level of transparency and luster, the best examples of Rhodolite are usually in bright tones enriched with flashes of purple and violet.

The finest specimens are generally mined in Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and a rather new mine in the Kangala region of Tanzania. Avel Lenttan’s rhodolite stones come mainly from deposits in Tanzania and Sri Lanka and are reddish/purple in color.
